In 1934 André Cornu opened a small bakery in the Swiss village of Champagne, in Waadt canton. Before long, his specialties were in high demand throughout the region.

In 1960 his son Paul-André Cornu took over the family business which in the meantime had tapped into nationwide demand for its products. Under his stewardship the brand went from strength to strength. In 1989 the company was renamed Specialit´s de Champagne SA.
